What Are Insoluble Fibres?
Insoluble fibres do not dissolve in water and pass through the digestive system relatively intact. They mainly aid digestive health.
Insoluble fibres help other foods, food constituents and water move through your digestive system, which can help smooth intestinal transit and prevent constipation, and generally keep your digestive system healthy.
Cereals, fruits, nuts, pulses and vegetables are good choices to find fibres. Insoluble fibres dominate in wholegrain, wheat and corn bran, nuts and seeds.
Some examples of insoluble fibres produced by the European starch industry:
- wheat bran,
- corn bran,
- potato fibre,
